A sad post

My lovely Nana passed away yesterday, aged ninety-four, bless her.  Nana has had a huge influence on my life. Amongst other things, I inherited her artistic ways and her passion for the Lake District.  She had a positive outlook right to the end and embraced adversity with such stoicism...I can learn so much from how Nana lived her life. She was a true inspiration and I will miss her dearly.  Her love for the Lakes has helped me confirm my decision to go for landscape.  I want to do it for her...to see The Lakes with fresh eyes, and indulge myself in the scenery that inspired her. Like Nana, I am project focussed, so to go out today and not know what to photograph was harder than it sounds...I need a brief in my head and struggle to just go out and take photographs, which my husband finds very odd for a photographer. Inspired by Ellie Davies I went to Whinlatter and sought glimpses of colour in the darkness.

  1. My thoughts are with you and your family Penny. You found something today in your photography that maybe you didnt expect, and through those small patches of light you will start something new.

  2. It's never easy to cope with loss, but I like Nigel's comment that these beacons of light you've captured here will help to keep her spirit with you.

  3. Hi Penny

Thinking of you at this time of loss. Really like the images you produced today, the light in the darkness is surely symbolic.
