everything is a remix

This is a really useful video about 'copying', to remind those, like myself, who beat themselves up from time to time about how original (or unoriginal) an idea is. COPY, COMBINE, TRANSFORM. It's all cool and nothing is new, not really!

  1. Hi Penny - good to hear from you. I hope things are going well for you.

  2. What nostalgia - took me right back! It's the use of the word 'copy' that gets in the way. I remember years ago that a group of students on the course I was involved with did a lunchtime series on histories of rock groups and how they formed and re-formed. It was so interesting to listen to how the music evolved. That's it - we're just involved in the evolution of photography!

  3. Hi Penny, nice to see you posting again. Any more on Landscape ? There is a new Landscape now, perhaps you could change to that one, which looks to me a whole lot less prescriptive that the older version.

  4. Thanks Eileen. Catherine, saw this video a while ago, but the 'copy, combine, transform' keeps coming back to me. Really useful. Cheers Nigel.

I will hopefully get back in to my stride re posting here again...lost the impetus for a good few months and have been trying to get myself together for November assessment. Just about there now finally and thankfully. Thought I'd never finish...

  5. I had misunderstood Penny and thought you had stopped Landscape altogether. Can see from your recent post that its gone, which is good. I found those 40+ exercises a bore to be honest, what about you ?

  6. Nigel, in dialogue with my tutor, I arranged for a self-directed approach to the landscape module, so didn't stick exactly to brief.

  7. Oh I see, didn't know that was an option at L2.
